The English Civil Wars were a devastating series of conflicts that waged throughout Britain in the mid-seventeenth century. This English Civil War Premium Exclusive Set tells the story of these conflicts through coinage, dating from the Civil War, through the abolishment of the monarchy, and finally with the restoration of the monarchy. After several years of disagreements between Charles I and parliament, a formal declaration of war was issued on 22 August 1642. Two coins featuring the obverse of Charles I during this time are included in this Premium Exclusive Set, alongside two coins from the Commonwealth. The last two coins in the set feature the obverse of Charles II after the restoration of the monarchy in 1660.
