Gold-backed ETCs allow investors to generally track the price of gold, giving them access to the properties and tangibility of owning physical gold without the need to arrange for storage and insurance separately. These gold backed funds seek to combine the flexibility and ease of stock-market trading with the benefits of physical gold ownership.
What Are The Features?
Responsibly Sourced
Each of the ETCs is 100% backed by London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) post-2019 responsibly sourced gold Good Delivery bars, and a growing number of post-2022 bars.*
Custody at The Royal Mint
Each of the ETCs is be backed by physical gold bars held in custody by The Royal Mint at its highly secure vault in Llantrisant, Wales. This means the gold is held outside of London and the banking system.
Recycled Gold
Uniquely, a target of >50% of the gold backing the ETCs will be 100% recycled gold bars, with the aim of increasing this proportion over time.*
Physical Redemption
Investors can redeem their ETC securities for physical gold from The Royal Mint, in the form of a range of gold bars and coins.
Heritage and History
The Royal Mint is 100% owned by His Majesty's Treasury and has a 1,100 year history dating back to the reign of King Alfred the Great.
