Head of Procurement
Joanne Lane has been recently appointed as the Head of Procurement at The Royal Mint, Joanne has over 27 years of experience of working in key purchasing and supply chain roles within the manufacturing environment. Most recently being the Purchasing Director at a Global Steel manufacturer. Joanne brings Board level experience having worked with top global consulting companies on strategy and business transformation.

We are embarking on a significant change in business opportunities, probably one of the most diverse since the very earliest days of our manufacturing and I am looking forward to working with our great procurement team here at The Royal Mint as well as our supplier partners both old and new. LEE WILKEY
Head of Strategic Sourcing
Lee Wilkey is responsible for our strategic sourcing team and has over 35 years of experience in a variety of procurement roles across a broad range of industries, including automotive, shipbuilding, support services and leisure.During his career Lee has held several senior positions delivering value through a strategic category-based approach to procurement and logistics.
“Following 2 years working in an interim role I joined The Royal Mintpermanently in December 2020 as the Head of Strategic Sourcing. Within my role I work across the organisation to develop a more strategic approach to procurement activity that combines commerciality and compliance with Public Contract Regulations. I also live on the south coast of England, working within a hybrid flexible environment where I can work from home, and this demonstrates how effectively hybrid working operates at The Royal Mint”.
Within the strategic sourcing team we are looking for people who are comfortable challenging the norm; who can develop great relationships with stakeholders and suppliers; who understand commerciality and can convert strategy into workable solutions; and, can contribute to developing a team ethos where we all celebrate each other’s successes and share accountability
DEBBIE DAVIES
Senior Procurement Manager
Debbie Davies started at The Royal Mint in 1990 after completing a HND in Business and Finance, working in the Finance Department as a Finance Officer. In 2004 Debbie moved to the Procurement Department and has remained there to this day, albeit in a variety of roles culminating in her current role leading the Procurement Operations team.
“During my time in Procurement I have progressed through the ranks moving from a material controller to my current role of Senior Procurement Manager. My progression has been supported by the business who have funded both my CIPS qualification in 2012 and the Post-Graduation MCIPS in 2016. My entire career has been at The Royal Mint during which time I have seen many changes within the business and can honestly say the journey that we are currently on, diversifying into new business streams, is the most exciting time I can recall and I am looking forward to being part of the team that delivers.”
Within the operational procurement team we are looking for enthusiastic and energetic professionals to join our function to help drive the transformational changes required and effectively use the data we access to support us become more effective and commercial.
