Made for a Special Monarch

Since it was first struck in 1489 at the command of Henry VII to symbolise the might of the Tudor dynasty, The Sovereign has endured as a coin of great strength, reliability and accuracy.

In 2022, we will see a special Sovereign struck for a remarkable monarch, as Her Majesty The Queen celebrates her historic Platinum Jubilee, marking a reign of 70 years. It will be some time, centuries even, until we see a reign of such longevity again. Therefore, it is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion deserving of special commemoration, which is why the 2022-dated Sovereign will feature an exclusive reverse design for one year only – a year-dated depiction of the Royal Coat of Arms.

Today, it is extremely rare for The Sovereign to feature a design other than Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic depiction of St George and the dragon, which makes this a poignant moment in numismatic history.
