Mark the Moment with The Half-Sovereign

The Sovereign is synonymous with quality and accuracy but it is also renowned for the masterpiece of design that appears on the coin’s reverse. The St George and the dragon design, created by Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, has featured on The Sovereign for 200 years. However, on rare occasions The Royal Mint deviates from the design to mark historic moments such as significant jubilees and coronations.

In 2018 we celebrate a historic event as Her Majesty The Queen reaches the 65th anniversary of her coronation. A special mint mark has been created to sit alongside Benedetto Pistrucci’s design. The regal crown intertwined with a ‘65’ has been struck on 22 carat gold Half-Sovereign and finished to Proof standard, commemorating an anniversary we’re unlikely to see again for many generations.
