Marked for Distinction Struck in Gold

As we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s coronation, a special mint mark, exclusive to 2018, appears on the coins in the 2018 Sovereign collection, including this very limited release of The Five-Sovereign Piece. The mark features alongside the traditional depiction of St George and the dragon by The Royal Mint’s very own Benedetto Pistrucci, which has been digitally remastered to accurately capture each detail of the original design. This is an impressive coin containing almost 40 grammes of 22 carat gold and finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard. It is only available as a single coin, is not included in any set and is the largest coin in the 2018 Sovereign collection – a fitting tribute to an unprecedented royal milestone.

The first Sovereigns were struck in 1489 during Henry VII’s reign; the coin has been linked to the monarch for centuries. With a reputation built on 500 years of history, the coins of the Sovereign family are synonymous with quality and an unrivalled accuracy that is guaranteed by The Royal Mint, the home of The Sovereign.
