Marking the start of his astonishing body of work, The Three Graces is one of many beautiful designs that William Wyon RA created during his time at The Royal Mint. The work of William Wyon RA and his rival Benedetto Pistrucci provided a golden age for The Royal Mint, as each engraver tried to outdo the talents of the other. Wyon looked to neoclassical sculptures like Antonio Canova’s The Three Graces for inspiration. In Greek mythology, the Three Graces are the daughters of Zeus.
