The 1982 Maundy set, commemorate the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee, is an ensemble that consists of four distinct denominations: fourpenny, threepenny, twopenny and one penny pieces, all struck in sterling silver. These coins feature the youthful laureate coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, with a surrounding legend and ornate beaded border, denoted by ‘+ELIZABETH.II. DEI. GRATIA. REGINA. F:D’. The reverse of each coin features a mark of value, flanked by the year of the coin’s issue on either side, elegantly enclosed within an oak wreath.
The coins in this set are in mint state, preserved in their original plastic packaging and securely housed within a distinctive square case. In 1982, Queen Elizabeth II personally presented these official Maundy sets at St David's Cathedral in Wales.
