This coin was minted in the same year that John Logie Baird was born and would have been used in circulation at that time.
The obverse of the coin is a portrait of Queen Victoria created by Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm who depicted The Queen with a small crown. It would become known as the 'Jubilee head'.
The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's timeless masterpiece, a depiction of St George and the dragon, which was created for the new gold Sovereign of 1817.Find out more
