In 2016, The Royal Mint released a range of coins to celebrate the life and works of Beatrix Potter, whose ‘small tales for small hands’ have delighted children for generations. Following the success of this hugely popular collection, 2017 saw a new set of limited-edition Benjamin Bunny 50p coins added to the series.
Benjamin first appeared in 1904 in ‘The Tale of Benjamin Bunny’, the sequel to the classic ‘Tale of Peter Rabbit’. The mischievous rabbit appeared in later tales alongside the Flopsy Bunnies and Mr Tod, and is depicted on the Benjamin Bunny coins in his recognisable tam-o’-shanter hat.
These limited edition 50p coins, finished to pristine Proof standard, are the first ever to feature Benjamin. In beautiful packaging that matches the original illustrations, they are the perfect keepsakes for fans of Beatrix Potter, and also make wonderful gifts for christenings and births.
