Many a bedtime story has involved Winnie the Pooh and the good friends who live alongside him in the Hundred Acre Wood. Parents, and grandparents, have passed down the charming storybooks, which were written by A. A. Milne and brought to life by the charming illustrations of E. H. Shepard.
Now, fans of the classic stories can enjoy a new chapter with a coin featuring Winnie the Pooh, soon to be followed by more friends, including Christopher Robin and Piglet. Pooh has been captured in full colour, normally reserved for silver coins, along with a pot of yummy honey and a friendly bee – a detail that unites the coins in the series.
This is the first time Winnie the Pooh has featured on a coin struck by The Royal Mint, and this official UK coin has been approved by Buckingham Palace. Just 45,000 Brilliant Uncirculated colour-printed coins are available and can only be purchased direct from The Royal Mint. Each coin comes in a specially created pop-up booklet taking you on a nostalgic trip to the Hundred Acre Wood.
