The obverse of this coin features an uncrowned portrait of King George V facing left. The surrounding legend has the lettering GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX which translates as 'George the Fifth by the Grace of God King of all the Britains'. There is also a BM which signifies the engraver Bertram MacKennal.

The reverse of this coin features a quartered shield of arms flanked by crowned royal cyphers. The legend on the top half of the coin has the lettering FID·DEF IND·IMP which translates as 'Defender of the Faith Emperor of India', The denomination and date are on the bottom half. Inbetween the legend are a rose, thistle and shamrock, the national flower emblems of England, Scotland and Ireland.
