Time to Reflect and Remember

Remembrance Day in 2018 has a special significance as the centenary of the Armistice that ended the First World War. At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns finally fell silent over the battlefields of the Western Front, after four years of continuous war and the loss of countless lives. Remembering those who fell in ‘the war to end war’, three nations with a friendship forged on the battlegrounds have united to mark the Armistice centenary.

The United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia have contributed silver proof coins for this set, each featuring the red Flanders poppy, the flower of remembrance that is traditionally worn to commemorate the Armistice and honour the sacrifice of the fallen. A joint project between the Royal Australian Mint, New Zealand Post and the Royal Mint, this set is a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their countries, and to the friendship forged between three nations and shaped in the theatre of war.
