The Royal Mint Experience has been awarded the ‘2020 Travellers Choice Award by Trip Advisor’ – ranking it amongst the top 10% of attractions worldwide for customer experience. The news comes as the attraction safely reopened its doors earlier this month.
The Royal Mint Experience has been awarded the ‘2020 Travellers Choice Award by Trip Advisor’ – ranking it amongst the top 10% of attractions worldwide for customer experience. The news comes as the attraction safely reopened its doors earlier this month.
Located in Llantrisant, South Wales, The Royal Mint Experience welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The truly unique attraction takes visitors ‘behind the scenes’ of coin making, followed by an interactive exhibition exploring 1,100 years of history. Each visitor also has the chance to strike their own UK coin, and lift a 400oz gold bar worth around £400,000.
The attraction has received over 1,500 Trip Advisor ratings since it opened, with over 1,000 reviews ranking The Royal Mint Experience as “excellent”. Last year it was awarded ‘Tourist Attraction of the Year’ at the Welsh Tourism Awards.

Last month saw The Royal Mint Experience re-opening its doors after closing due to the coronavirus outbreak back in March. A number of measures have been implemented to ensure a safe environment for members of the public.
The Royal Mint Experience is currently open every Thursday to Sunday from 9:45am to 5pm, with tours running from 10am to 4:30pm. Each tour will accommodate a limited number of people while the 2m social distancing rule is still in place. Additional signage for a one-way system is visible, with stickers on the floor and barriers put in place – as well as extra hand sanitizer stations.
