Protecting and Restoring Wildlife
Celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2026, ZSL (Zoological Society of London) helps people and wildlife thrive together.

Founded by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in 1826 for ‘the advancement of zoological science’, the international conservation charity now operates in more than 70 countries across the world.
With a science-first approach and pioneering spirit, ZSL’s groundbreaking conservation work includes protecting threatened species, restoring habitats and training conservationists.

Paying Homage to a Scientific Institution
The UK £2 coin struck in honour of 200 years of ZSL now features as part of the 2026 Annual Sets. The reverse design features three key animals that tell a powerful story about ZSL’s conservation impact, whilst the coin’s edge inscription reads ‘RESTORING WILDLIFE TOGETHER’.
