Celebrate the Legacy of a
Memorable Monarch

Commemorative • Annual Sets

Born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor on 21 April 1926, Queen Elizabeth II was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and remains one of the most popular monarchs in living memory.

Queen Elizabeth II

Princess Elizabeth was never meant to be queen, but when her uncle Edward VIII abdicated, her father became George VI and the princess was next in line to the throne. Acceding to the throne at the age of 25, Elizabeth II went on to mark several notable milestones throughout her long and remarkable reign, including a Platinum Jubilee.

Queen Elizabeth II

Elizabeth II has appeared on more UK coins than any other British monarch and her image was synonymous with The Royal Mint until her passing in 2022. During her reign, five official coinage portraits of the monarch appeared on the United Kingdom’s circulating coins.

Elizabeth II visited The Royal Mint on numerous occasions throughout her life, attending Tower Hill in London in 1937 to mark her father’s coronation and our current site in Llantrisant in 1968 to mark its grand opening.

Paying Homage to a Life of Service

Celebrate the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II with a commemorative UK £5 coin struck in her memory. A special privy mark of the Lily of the Valley flower features exclusively on the £5 Crown in the precious metals editions of the 2026 Annual Sets. Frequently cited as one of her favourite flowers, the Lily of the Valley was included in Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation bouquet in 1953 and appeared in royal floral arrangements and ceremonies throughout her reign. The floral privy mark serves as a subtle tribute to the monarch’s personal tastes and deep fondness for the flower.
