With the Act of Union between England and Scotland in 1707, the Kingdom of Great Britain was formed, then in 1801, the parliament of Britain and Ireland passed a new Act of Union, forming the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Then in 1927 with the formation of the Republic of Ireland the title of our country changed to how we refer to it to this very day, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
