Queen Victoria died on the 22 January 1901 but production of her coinage continued until the coronation of her son and successor, Edward VII, in 1902. It is unusual for a monarch’s coins to be struck after they have died making this coin even more special and collectable. Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years and 216 days and held the title of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch her great-great granddaughter – Her Late Majesty The Queen – surpassed her in 2015.
