Celebrate a defining moment in British military history. This beautifully struck bronze medallion commemorates the courage and strategic brilliance of the British Army during the Peninsular War, under the reign of King George III. Featuring a detailed design by renowned artists L. M. Petit and E. J. Dubois, the medallion honours the pivotal defence of Lisbon and the steadfast stand along the River Tagus in 1810-1811.

The obverse captures the likeness of the Duke of Wellington in the guise of a Roman general seated before his tent, whose leadership was instrumental in the campaign. The reverse bears the deity of the river Tagus, depicted reclining near to an orange tree, symbolical of Portugal, with the British Camp behind him with the inscription, 'LINES OF TORRES VEDRAS THE ENGLISH ARMY ON THE TAGUS 1810 . 1811'. A tribute to the formidable defensive lines that turned the tide against French forces.

This medal stands as a testament to British resilience and military achievement during one of the most critical campaigns of the Napoleonic Wars.
