The George I Silver Coronation Medal was issued in 1714 to commemorate the coronation of George I, the first monarch of the House of Hanover to ascend the British throne. This official Royal Mint medal was designed and engraved by John Croker, the celebrated chief engraver of the period.

Struck in silver, the medal typically weighs around 16.7 grams and measures approximately 34 mm in diameter. The obverse features a laureate and armoured bust of George I facing right, depicted with long hair and wearing scale armour, with a mantle looped over the shoulder. The reverse shows George I enthroned in royal robes, being crowned by Britannia, symbolizing the union of the new king with the British nation
