Superseding her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria as the longest-reigning monarch in British history in 2015, Queen Elizabeth II remains one of the most-loved and memorable monarchs in modern history. Reigning before and after decimalisation took place, her coins featured five definitive coinage portraits and she is the only monarch in British history to have had both a pre-decimal and decimal coinage. 

The penny is one of the oldest denominations to be introduced to circulation in the United Kingdom. This pre-decimal penny features a design of Britannia on the reverse, a classic emblem representing the UK.
