The Elizabethan era saw a lot of lasting change for the United Kingdom, including a range of societal changes and technological advancements. Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne in 1952 and the following year, she became the first British monarch to have a televised coronation ceremony; she went on to become the longest-reigning monarch in British history in 2015.

Following decimalisation, the florin was redenominated as a decimal 10p coin. Old florins theoretically remained in circulation alongside these new 10p coins until the larger variants were removed in 1993. The reverse of this Elizabeth II florin features a heraldic design of the Tudor rose surrounded by a wreath of thistles, leeks and shamrocks to represent all four UK nations.
