Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne in 1952 after the death of her father, George V, and went on to become the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Elizabeth II is the only British monarch to have had both a pre-decimal and decimal coinage.
This Queen Elizabeth II farthing features the classic wren reverse design that first appeared on this denomination during the reign of George VI. Farthings were first introduced as an individual coin in the thirteenth century and remained in circulation until the 1960s.
This coin is also available as part of The Making of Modern Britain Queen Elizabeth II Pre-Decimal Coin Bundle, which offers collectors the opportunity to own an example of each of Elizabeth II’s pre-decimal coins.
