Edward VII acceded to the throne at the age of 59 in 1901 after the death of his mother, Queen Victoria. He only reigned for nine years but oversaw great social, cultural and political change for the United Kingdom.
Following decimalisation, the shilling was redenominated as a 5p coin. Some of these newer coins were produced before decimalisation and circulated alongside their pre-decimal counterparts.
This coin is also available as part of The Making of Modern Britain Edward VII Bundle, which offers collectors the opportunity to own an example of each of the circulating coins of Edward VII’s reign.
