Queen Victoria is Britain’s second longest-reigning monarch and one of the most influential monarchs in British history. Curated on the 125th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, in the year of the Platinum Jubilee of her great-great-granddaughter Queen Elizabeth II, this set brings together two coins from key events in Queen Victoria’s reign for the first time. Struck in the year the ‘Jubilee Head’ portrait by Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm was introduced, the first coin is an 1887 Sovereign. This is paired with a Sovereign from the year of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and features her popular final coinage portrait, the ‘Old Head’ design created by Thomas Brock. Struck in 22 carat gold, the coins are available as a Sovereign and Half-Sovereign set.
