The Trial of the Pyx began during the reign of Edward I following the monarch’s passing of a statute that required the testing of the nation’s coinage to ensure it met a certain standard and to prevent counterfeiting. Whilst the testing processes used today are very modern, the ceremony itself remains steeped in numismatic history. Now, for only the second time, we have refined and purified gold and silver taken from coins selected for this ancient ceremony to produce these exclusive collectable bars.
