Using animals and mythical creatures as a way of showing lineage is a practice that dates back to medieval England, but it was the Tudor dynasty that took heraldic art to new heights. The Royal Tudor Beasts Bullion Collection is inspired by the ten statues that guard the entrance to Hampton Court Palace, emblems of the union between Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour.
The tenth release in the collection features the Seymour Panther, the last of the beasts to appear individually on a bullion coin. The coin’s reverse design was created by artist and sculptor David Lawrence and has been further enhanced by surface animation, an additional security feature. Struck in 999.9 fine gold to bullion standard, the coin is also available as a 1/4oz gold edition, as well as in platinum and fine silver.
