If you took part in our Price Predictions Survey 2023, you might want to see how your forecasts are faring against precious metal prices this year to date.

Earlier this year, we asked our customers to predict the average prices of gold, silver and platinum during 2023, following a similar poll of industry analysts by precious metals body the LBMA. Those who responded to our survey expected to see higher average gold and silver prices this year than those forecast by precious metals experts, whilst you predicted a lower average platinum price than that predicted by analysts.

At the end of April – a third of the way through 2023 – the LBMA released the average prices to date, which we have compared to your predictions. Our customers forecast that the average gold price in US dollars would be $1,910.30 in 2023 overall, whilst on April 26 the average price to date stood at $1,911. Your prediction for silver was $24.75 – slightly higher than the actual average to date of $23.01 – and for platinum, our customers predicted an average of $1,037.86, whilst to date the actual average stands at $1,004.27.

Many of our customers took part in our survey, in which we offered the chance to win a Britannia 2023 1oz gold coin, a Britannia 2023 1oz silver coin and a Britannia 2023 1oz platinum coin to the customers who predict most accurately the average price of each respective precious metal this year. The average precious metals prices will be calculated after 31 December 2023 and the winners of our competition will be announced in early January 2024.
