Inspired by vampire folklore from Eastern Europe, Bram Stoker’s Dracula has become the quintessential vampire tale and one of the most popular works of fiction in the Gothic horror genre. First published in London in 1897, the story is as popular today as it was more than 125 years ago and has been instrumental in inspiring a vampire sub-genre that weaves its way into books, films, television and theatre. Stoker’s main character and primary antagonist, the sinister and enigmatic Count Dracula, remains the most prominent villain in vampire mythology. 

This bullion coin, struck in one ounce of fine silver, pays tribute to Stoker’s seminal horror novel and its titular villain. Garbed in his iconic cape, Dracula’s tall figure is embellished with an aura of menacing elegance. American designer Joel Iskowitz has captured classic motifs from the novel whilst creating a fresh depiction of the character; the vampire is surrounded by bats and his eerie castle is visible in the background, framed within a full moon.
