Norse mythology is full of fascinating characters, many of whom are complex with multifaceted personas. Loki is such a character who epitomises the ambiguous nature of the gods – he is an ally to the gods of Asgard but also the main source of their problems. Beautiful and witty, Loki is extremely undependable and often sets his sights on creating as much chaos as possible.

The son of a giant called Farbauti and a woman named Laufey, Loki breeds monstrous children of his own with the ogress called Angrboda: the giant wolf Fenrir, the Midgard Serpent and Hel, goddess of the underworld. Loki orchestrates the death of Baldr, one of the most beloved of the Aesir, which is a major event that triggers Ragnarök, the apocalypse of the gods.

The creator of chaos features at the centre of the reverse design of this minted bullion bar, which is enhanced by a special antiqued finish.
