Counted amongst the Aesir, the 12 gods who reside in Asgard, the celestial realm of Norse mythology, Loki is known for his cunning and mischievous nature. He often causes chaos amongst the gods for his own sinister pleasure and can shapeshift at will. He has three monstrous children, one of whom is Fenrir, the giant wolf; the others are Hel, goddess of the underworld, and Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent.

This skilfully designed bullion bar features a unique illustration of Loki. The deity is shown sitting upon a tree holding a sprig of mistletoe, the plant that he uses to cause the death of Baldr, which triggers Ragnarök, the apocalypse of the Norse gods.

Jörmungandr coils around the branches beneath Loki and stalagmite rock formations are visible in the background, representing the cave in which the shapeshifter is sentenced to serve his punishment for orchestrating the death of Baldr.
