The Sovereign is The Royal Mint’s 22 carat gold flagship coin. For two centuries The Sovereign has been a constant of British coinage, admired and trusted through times of change. Its bold St George and the dragon design was created by Benedetto Pistrucci, representing integrity and resilience.
For 2017, The Sovereign features a new shield mint mark, placed proudly below the defeated dragon, to signify the 200-year anniversary. The coin’s observe features the fifth definitive portrait of Her Majesty The Queen by Jody Clark.
The Half-Sovereign 2017 UK Gold Bullion Coin is struck in 916.7 fine gold.
