The Falcon of the Plantagenets on the Largest Sivler Coin in the Collection
66 years ago at the coronation, ten statues guarded the entrance to Westminster Abbey – The Queen’s Beasts – manifestations of the strands of ancestry brought together in a young woman about to be crowned queen. Now they return to a beautiful series of coins and The Queen’s Beasts Collection from The Royal Mint celebrates each of these heraldic beasts in turn. For the fifth release in the series, the Falcon of the Plantagenets takes centre stage. Keen-eyed and vigilant, the falcon and fetterlock is a symbol of Edward IV, the first Yorkist king of England.
