In order to open a second front and relieve pressure on the Soviet Union, the Allies had to breach the ‘Atlantic Wall’, a series of coastal defences designed to repel any seaborne invasion. As we mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, The Royal Mint is delighted to present this special collector set. Comprising a commemorative silver Proof coin and a copy of D-Day Landings to The Liberation of Paris book, it offers a unique insight into the day itself and the ensuing Battle for Normandy, as we remember those who conceived and carried out the largest amphibious assault in military history.
