A Historic Royal Moment Captured in Five Ounces of Fine Gold
The birth of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge in 2013 marked a historic moment in the history of the British monarchy, with four generations of the Royal Family established for the first time since the reign of Queen Victoria. Now, as the growing family mark a number of milestones in 2018, including an eagerly-anticipated royal wedding and the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s coronation, we celebrate a remarkable family making history together.
Just 100 coins have been struck in five ounces of fine gold with a 50mm diameter. The design by heraldic artist and calligrapher Timothy Noad has been finished to Proof standard on the coin’s reverse. With symbols inspired by the Royal Badge of the House of Windsor, each of the four family members are represented by their initials – the first time four generations of the Royal Family have been celebrated together on an official UK coin from The Royal Mint.
