Unlock the Mysteries of Heraldry in Precious Metal
The Queen’s Beasts appeared together for the first time in 1953 at the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen at her coronation, and as we celebrate its 65th anniversary, collectors have the unique opportunity to purchase this very special piece of royal history.
When Edward IV fought in the Battle of Towton in 1461, he had the Black Bull of Clarence on his side. He and his army carried the image of this powerful beast on their shields and it brought them victory as they defeated the House of Lancaster and Edward became the first Yorkist King of England. The bull went on to feature on the Royal Arms and on coins during the 1560s when Elizabeth I ordered the recoinage of all silver coins and it has been a familiar symbol ever since.
