Mark the Moment of Armistice with a Grand Tribute in Gold

The Royal Mint marks the important moments in British history and honours the nation’s heroes and heroines. In 2014, we began a five-year series of remembrance that would tell the story of the First World War in coins. For 2018 we look back to 1918 and the Armistice. You can join the moving commemoration with the final kilo coin in the collection.

The esteemed British sculptor Paul Day created the coin’s reverse design. He has captured the poignancy of the moment of the Armistice with the image of a lone soldier, reminding us of the human cost of war. Each coin is struck in a kilo of 999 fine gold, finished to Proof standard – the finest finish used for commemorative coins. The coin comes with specially sourced accounts and imagery produced with Imperial War Museums, who receive a donation from each coin purchased to continue their important work.
