The mythical and majestic Unicorn of Scotland on a ten-ounce coin
The unicorn may be the stuff of fairy tales but for centuries it was believed to be a real beast, with the long spiral tusk of a narwhal often mistakenly used as evidence of the unicorn’s existence. Today the Unicorn of Scotland is celebrated as a symbol of strength tempered with grace, and appears all around the United Kingdom on signs and monuments.
Jody Clark has captured the beast in his powerful but elegant composition, which has been finished to Proof standard on this 999 fine silver coin. This is only the second time an official UK ten-ounce Proof coin has been struck and it is presented in a Royal Mint case with a booklet produced in association with Clive Cheesman, Richmond Herald at the College of Arms.
