Sharing stories we must never forget
Ever since Remembrance Day began in 1919, we have fallen silent on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. From the end of the First World War to conflicts in more recent times, and from war memorials across Britain to our own homes, we have joined together in quiet reflection. These moments help us to remember the fallen but also pass on their stories through the generations and ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten. Traditionally struck as an Alderney coin, the first official UK Remembrance Day £5 coin features colour printing, usually reserved for Proof coins, and has been finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard. The coin is presented in a vivid fold-out wallet exploring remembrance traditions, and a donation from every purchase is made to Imperial War Museums to support their valuable work.
