Beginning with the Lion of England in fine silver
Unleashing a dynamic new royal collection
With mythical and medieval origins, heraldic beasts have captured the imagination of artists for centuries. They have represented households, monarchs and organisations, often passed down through generations. The beasts inherited by Her Majesty The Queen, and chosen to symbolically guard the entrance to her coronation, have inspired a new collection of coins struck in precious metals.
Royal Mint coin designer Jody Clark has created a fierce interpretation of the Lion of England for the reverse of the first coin in the collection. Jody is probably best known for designing the current coinage portrait of The Queen that also features on the obverse of this coin. Struck in one ounce of 999 fine silver, the coin is finished to Proof standard and comes with a booklet produced in association with Clive Cheesman, Richmond Herald at the College of Arms.
