A new collection inspired by The Queens royal protectors
The Lion of England leads the pack
Her Majesty The Queen is now the world’s longest reigning living monarch, and as she continues to reach new milestones in her remarkable reign, we look back to the day of her coronation when the beasts of heraldry stood guard over the new queen. The ten creatures that lined Her Majesty’s entry to Westminster Abbey symbolised centuries of ancestry and tradition. Now, Royal Mint coin designer Jody Clark has breathed new life into The Queen’s Beasts for this new collection.
The first release features the Lion of England, standing ‘rampant’ and fierce on the reverse of the coin. The obverse of the coin features the current coinage portrait of The Queen, which was also created by Jody. The coin is struck in five ounces of 999 fine silver, is finished to Proof standard and is accompanied by a booklet produced in association with Clive Cheesman, Richmond Herald at the College of Arms.
