An Historic Royal Occasion Celebrated on the Latest £20 Coin

From the birth of Prince Charles in 1948 to the arrival of their great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte in 2015, The Queen and Prince Philip have seen the Royal Family blossom during their 70-year marriage. They are now able to share the benefit of their experiences and act as reassuring role models as they gradually pass their duties on to the younger generations.

The birth of the couple’s great-grandson Prince George in 2013 saw the first release of a new £20 silver coin. Its popularity sees it return for this royal celebration. Finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard, the 999 fine silver coin’s obverse features Etienne Millner’s new combined portrait, with John Bergdahl’s equestrian design capturing the couple’s shared love of horses on the reverse.

All coins made by The Royal Mint are legal tender, whether commemorative or circulating. However, only circulating legal tender coins are designed to be spent and traded at businesses and banks.

This coin is a commemorative coin so banks, post offices and shops will not accept them.
If individual customers wish to discuss the return of this coin now or in the future please contact our customer services team on 0345 6088 300.
