30 September 2025 – The Royal Mint Museum today launches its second podcast series, The Secret Life of Coins, exploring the fascinating stories of coins used for purposes far beyond their monetary value.
The six-part series delves into the unexpected roles coins have played throughout history, from political protests and timekeeping to magic tricks and healing rituals. Each episode uncovers how these everyday objects have shaped culture, society and individual lives in remarkable ways.
The Secret Life of Coins is available now on all major podcast platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as part of a broader project that includes an exhibition at The Royal Mint Experience and dedicated online galleries on the Royal Mint Museum website.
Dr Kevin Clancy, Museum Director, said: "In an era of strained budgets and contested narratives, reaching and engaging with new audiences has never been more important for museums. Following the success of last year's Coins and the Sea podcast, we've been embracing the online world to connect with more digitally focused audiences who might not otherwise engage with our collections."

The Museum team collaborated with guests from prestigious institutions including the Houses of Parliament, the Foundling Museum, and notable figures such as Helen Pankhurst, bringing diverse expertise and perspectives to each episode.
Listeners can discover additional content including object galleries and supplementary information on the Royal Mint Museum website at royalmintmuseum.org.uk/podcast.
