Royal Mint Launches World's Most Visually Secure Bullion Bar
- New Britannia bullion bar range features advanced security technology previously only available in coins.
- Three innovative security elements added to the iconic Britannia design.
- Range available to purchase from royalmint.com.
The Royal Mint has unveiled a groundbreaking addition to its bullion portfolio with the launch of the new secure Britannia bullion bar. For the first time, innovative security features - previously exclusive to its world-renowned coins - have been rolled out into its gold bar range.
Building on the success of the visually secure Britannia bullion coin, the new bars incorporate cutting-edge security technology that allows investors to authenticate their purchase simply by rotating it in the light.
The new Britannia bullion bar features three innovative security elements:
- Latent imagery: Acting like a hologram, the latent image changes from a padlock to a trident when viewed from different angles
- Surface animation: Micro details create the illusion of waves rolling behind the figure of Britannia when the bar is rotated
- Micro-text: The inscription "DECUS ET TUTAMEN" ("an ornament and a safeguard") surrounds Britannia, created using specialist lasers
The bars are also protected by innovative tamper-proof packaging and extra layers of protection including a UV watermark, QR code authentication, and a unique serial number.
Andrew Dickey, Director of Precious Metals for The Royal Mint, said: "Our Britannia bullion range is already one of the most sought after in the world, and by extending these innovative security features to our bars, we're giving investors even greater confidence when purchasing our products.
"We have seen unprecedented demand for physical precious metals as investors increasingly look to diversify their portfolios through 'safe haven' assets. These new enhancements ensure authenticity and offer greater protection for investors, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the precious metals industry."
The Royal Mint has been a pioneer in anti-counterfeiting techniques for over 1,100 years and was one of the first mints in the world to use advanced picosecond lasers - technology used in medicine and aerospace - in the production of bullion products. This technology enables The Royal Mint to work on a submicron level, creating complex designs using indents which are 200 times narrower than the width of a human hair.
The gold Britannia bullion minted bar range, from 1g to 100g, is available to purchase globally from www.royalmint.com.
