Royal Mint Celebrates 30 Years Of Girl Power With Official UK Spice Girls Commemorative Coin

- The world's best-selling female group joins The Royal Mint’s Music Legends Hall of Fame, marking 30 years since the release of "Wannabe" and debut album “Spice”.
- The coin design features silhouettes of all five Spice Girls alongside their authentic autographs - the first band to have their autographs appear on a UK commemorative coin.

3 March 2026: If you really really really wanna own a piece of pop history, you better make it fast. The Royal Mint is celebrating 30 years of iconic Girl Power with an official Spice Girls coin, honouring the groundbreaking debut of “Wannabe” and their first album “Spice.”
The collectable £5 coin celebrates the best-selling female group of all time. The Spice Girls exploded into the charts in 1996, reaching number one in 37 countries and launching a cultural ‘Girl Power’ movement that inspired millions. The striking design, created by artist Ffion Rees (Nee Gwillim), captures all five members striking a pose in silhouette, alongside their authentic autographs, immortalising 90s fandom and nostalgia.
In a first for The Royal Mint’s Music Legends collection, fans can choose their favourite Spice Girl with five bold and unique packaging designs for the Brilliant Uncirculated Colour Coin. Each pack showcases a different member of the group: Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, Posh Spice, Scary Spice and Sporty Spice, encouraging collectors to complete the full set and celebrate the uniqueness that made the Spice Girls so iconic. Each of the five packaging designs is strictly limited to 15,000 coins worldwide.
In partnership with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s brand management and merchandise division, The Royal Mint worked closely with the band to carefully curate a design that celebrates the incredible legacy of The Spice Girls. This official tribute allows fans to own a piece of pop history, celebrating a group whose message of female empowerment and unforgettable fashion proved that Girl Power could conquer the world.

The Spice Girls are the latest artists to join The Royal Mint's ongoing Music Legends coin series, celebrating the greatest singers and songwriters in British history. The series, which has previously honoured Freddie Mercury, Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, Shirley Bassey and Paul McCartney, has proved hugely popular with collectors and music fans, delivering over half a million coins to enthusiasts in 111 countries around the world.
The collection is available from 9am on 3 March 2026 with prices starting from £18.50 for the Brilliant Uncirculated edition. The coin’s obverse design features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings and is also available in Gold Proof, Silver Proof, and as limited-edition prints.
