The Royal Mint, the UK’s home of precious metals, has today (8 March 2024) unveiled the Britannia 2024 UK coin range.

Dating back to circa AD 119 under the rule of Emperor Hadrian, the collection pays homage to the enduring legacy of Britannia; a symbol of strength, resilience, and fortitude cherished by the nation for centuries. From the Elizabethan era to the present day, Britannia's image has graced coins during the reign of every monarch since the reign of Charles II, symbolising the nation's maritime power and unwavering spirit.

Renowned French author and illustrator Marie-Alice Harel has reimagined Britannia on the reverse, capturing her poised above an oncoming wave connecting to the plume of her helmet, symbolising her historic connection with the sea, and the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III features on its obverse.

The 2024 Britannia is available in various editions, including individual coins and premium sets. Struck to Proof standard in 999.9 fine gold and 999 fine silver, some select silver and gold editions feature reverse frosting.
