Celebrate. Commemorate. Inspire.
Marking 100 years of the Royal Air Force with the Daring Red Arrows
As the Royal Air Force marks 100 years of pioneering aviation, Royal Mail has produced a stamp cover celebrating one of the premier aerobatic teams in the world, the RAF Red Arrows. Each limited edition coin and stamp set is accompanied by an official United Kingdom £2 coin produced by The Royal Mint. This celebration of the world’s first independent air force has been produced in collaboration with the RAF, with insights from their experts, and is the perfect tribute for stamp and coin enthusiasts and those with an interest in aviation.
The fully illustrated pack contains stunning imagery of the Red Arrows in action, plus insights from Peter R March, an aviation author, photojournalist and pilot, and information about the famous formations and smoke trails of the Red Arrows displays. The stamps are uniquely tied to the cover by an exclusive handstamp featuring Scampton, Lincoln, which is where the Red Arrows are based.
The stamps are presented with a commemorative £2 coin that is finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard – a finer finish than the circulating coins you’ll find in your change. Rhys Morgan designed the reverse of the coin, inspired by the badge of the RAF, which features the famous motto ‘Per Ardua Ad Astra’, meaning ‘Through Adversity to the Stars’.
