As Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s first male child, Edward VII underwent a strict upbringing in preparation to rule. However, he was only king for a short period, reigning from 1901 to 1910. He presided over a golden age of peace for the British Empire and was instrumental in the Anglo-French, ‘Entente Cordiale’ peace agreement that was signed in 1904. With only nine years spent on the throne, this is your chance to collect a Sovereign from each year of Edward VII’s reign.
The gold Sovereigns of the king’s reign were regarded as the American Express of the era, as well as being accepted as legal tender all over the world, including in countries such as Brazil that weren’t part of the British Empire. Now, you can collect the nine Sovereigns, one struck for each year he sat on the throne.
