Celebrate the RAF with their Symbol of the Skies
The motto of the Royal Air Force ‘Per Ardua Ad Astra’, meaning ‘Through Adversity to the Stars’ captures the courage and spirit of both the Royal Air Force and the exceptional people who have pioneered in aviation since 1918. This year, The Royal Mint is proud to join the RAF in their centenary celebrations, striking five coins to mark this important milestone.
The first coin in the collection celebrates the RAF as a whole, using their badge and featuring the famous motto to symbolise strength and resilience over 100 years. The next four releases in the collection will feature four of the RAF’s iconic aircraft. You can collect all five coins over the coming months.
This edition of the £2 coin has been finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard, which is a finer finish than the coins you will find in circulation. The CD-style packaging keeps your untouched coin protected, while the information it contains has been produced in collaboration with the experts at the RAF and contains specially sourced imagery and information.
