A gold coin for the inspiring woman behind the stories

The wonderful world of Miss Potter

While she may have created some of the most charming and famous characters in children literature, Beatrix Potter worked not only in writing and illustrating, but also in publishing, science and conservation, a woman decades ahead of her time. Now, 150 years after her birth, The Royal Mint launches a series of 50p coins featuring Beatrix and some of her best-loved characters, with the first coin celebrating the pioneering woman herself.

The first coin in the series designed by experienced Royal Mint engraver, Emma Noble, captures the spirit of the multi-talented Beatrix Potter, with an inscription echoing the font we are so familiar with from her books. She has included elements celebrating Beatrix as the artist behind some of the most memorable characters in children's literature. This 22 carat gold coin has been finished to Proof standard, and is presented in a wooden case with a booklet on Beatrix life, her talents and her legacy, and a certificate confirming this is one of only 750 coins to be struck.
